The process of handing over the inquiry centres of 20 railway stations in the Prayagraj division of the North Central Railway to private hands has started. An advertisement has also been given for this. These include Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Agra, Bareilly, Moradabad, Rampur, Sitapur, Aligarh, Saharanpur, and Muzaffarnagar, among others.

How much the train is delayed, which train will go on which route, which platform the train will come on—such information will now be given not by railway workers but by the employees of private companies. At the inquiry center at the railway station, instead of railway employees, now private employees will answer the questions of the passengers. This facility will be available 24 hoursa day at the railway station.
The staff deployed at the interrogation centres will also have a special dress code, which will be kept on the lines of metro stations. This is being seen as another step towards the privatization of the railways.

Other stations will also be added in a phased manner. A total of 25 examination centres will be set up. It will be operated by a private company for 1095 days, i.e., three years. The tender amount is Rs 55,849 crore. Only experienced and financially capable contractors will get a chance in this.
If we look at the last few years, the railways has privatized the catering facility, outsourcing for cleaning, ATVM for selling ordinary tickets, paid passenger waiting rooms, etc. The operators of the companies are also handling the work of 139 helpline number to hear and respond to complaints from internet media like X, etc.

Maintenance of Smoke Detection in Humsafar Express, Crew Management System, Operation and Control of Rail Madad Portal and Tejas Express are now in private hands. Bharat Gaurav Train, Restaurant on Wheels, Sleeping Pad, and Retiring Room are also steps in this direction.
